Last night

Sorry I didn't post anything last night, but I had a busy day. In the morning I finished my Christmas shopping with my mom. Then once we got home I had about 2 hours and then I had to start getting ready for my first Selah concert. Selah was performing at a local church in my town and Sarah was opening for them, so I was really excited to attend the concert. I had never really heard of Selah until I started reading the Bring the Rain blog. I started to listen to their music after hearing it on Angie's site. I'm so glad I went to the concert it was AMAZING!

Sarah started the concert and she was wonderful. Wonderful doesn't really explain how great she was. I have my own copy of Christmas in Heaven but have never heard Sarah sing live, so I was excited to finally get to hear her. Sarah sang 3 songs off of her Gratitude album and then sang Christmas in Heaven. She rocked!!! I had goose mumps up and down my entire body listening to Sarah perform her first song. I actually had tears in my eyes listening to her sing her first song. She has an amazing voice. In between songs Sarah told the audience about her story and about what happened to her great husband Chad, she even sang a song that Chad wrote. It is a catchy song called "Mustard Seed" I was waiting for Sarah to sing Christmas in Heaven all day. I have heard the song about 1,000 times. I'm not kidding I listen to it all the time, especially when I'm in my car. I was so excited to finally get to hear Sarah sing it. What I once again was not prepared for was the emotion that smacked me in the face. Sarah didn't even have the first note of the first word out and I already had the tears welling in my eyes. I wiped away the tears and thought I was going to be ok. As soon as I wiped the tears from my eyes more were right there ready to fall down my cheek. Even though I have heard the song before, listening to Sarah sing it brought out so many emotions. While I was listening to Sarah sing, I was thinking about her story and her life with Chad, I was thinking about my story and my life with Shawn. I was thinking that for some reason unknown to both Sarah and myself the lives that Sarah and I shared with our wonderful husbands was cut way too short and hearing Christmas in Heaven live made my heart ache for Shawn. I hope both Shawn and Chad have an amazing Christmas in Heaven this year. I hope they will be celebrating with each other. I hope Chad and Shawn have become friends, just as Sarah and I have.

Sarah, if you are reading this you did a great job and your voice is amazing. I'm so glad I went. Thanks for everything once again. I will see you in a week.

After Sarah got done then Selah came out. Never being to a Christian concert before I was totally amazed. Selah did a terrific job and they all have amazing voices. I have only heard them on the Bring the Rain site. They sang some 'traditional' church songs and then sang some Christmas songs as well. My favorite song that Selah sang was "God Bless the Broken Road". I usually listen to country music so I have heard Rascal Flats sing this song. Don't get me wrong, I like Rascal Flats, but Selah blew them out of the water when singing this song. Selah also performed an earth shattering version of Silent Night. After listening to Sarah and then Selah my body was in a constant state of goose bumps and tears in my eyes.

Before leaving the concert I bought Sarah's Gratitude CD. I listened to it 3 times last night when I got home. If you have heard Christmas in Heaven and liked it, please go to her site and also get Gratitude, you won't be sorry.

I'm so glad that I went to the concert last night. It was wonderful to finally hear Sarah sing live and I was very amazed at how much I like the music of Selah. I maybe buying a few of the Selah CD's before much longer. Marni~if you are reading this thank you for letting me sit with you! Thanks for the hug as well. You, Sarah, and Collette have been great!

I'm in Youngstown for a visit this week. I'm so excited to be back home with my best friends and my YSU football family. I tell you though it sure felt weird driving back into town without Shawn. As we got closer to Youngstown I had a lump in my throat. I miss him so so much, especially as Christmas is getting closer. I know that Shawn is with me, so I'm going to smile and have fun this week with my friends. I'm going to try my hardest to post everyday, but if not then at least you all will know why...I will be having fun with my friends.

Thanks for all the "get wells" for Bo. He is feeling much better today and he came to Youngstown with me.

I will post more soon.

Ok, I am trying not to be too jealous that you got to see Selah in concert! :) I am so glad you did, though! I absolutely love their music, and can't wait for their new CD to come out. (I think we gotta wait till Spring, though, bummer! It will have the Carry You song for Audrey - looking forward to it!)

Jen - I am so happy that you had a great time at the concert. You are right...Selah is absolutely wonderful and after listening to Sarah's voice and her song for the 1st time yesterday - WOW, I can imagine that was a GREAT concert! Like Kirsten states in her post... you definitely need to check out "Wonderful, Merciful Saviour". If you are ever wanting to listen to more Christian music then Casting Crowns is an excellent group.

Enjoy your time in Youngstown and be safe!!
