I know Bo is "just" a dog and I've only had him for 2 months, but I love him so much and he has really became part of our family and is a HUGE companion for me. Bo has really helped me through a lot the last few months. I knew it was a weekend and that the ER vet would be expensive but I knew I would never forgive myself if something"bad" were to happened before the vet opened today. I didn't think he was really that sick but with everything that has happened to me the last 5 months I didn't want to wait and then have something be really wrong. I'm glad I went with my gut and took him in because he was a little dehydrated. Many of you were right on by suggesting I give him rice and boiled chicken. Yummy!! After we got home from the ER vet yesterday he slept most of the afternoon. Around 5:00 he was acting hungry and actually wanted to eat. He ate a helping of rice and chicken and kept it all down. A few hours later he had some more and then right before bed he ate some more. He kept it all down! Bo slept really well during the night.
This morning I talked to my vet. She said I absolutely did the right thing by taking him in. She told me that because he is so small dehydration can happen really fast. The vet told me that since he was eating and keeping it all down that she was really pleased with that. She told me to just watch him today, keep him on his bland diet and that she would call and check up on him again tomorrow. I love Bo's vet. She is so nice and understanding, she also knows what happened to me so she knows why I'm a little "nuts" sometimes. The only thing that I'm still worried about is that Bo still isn't drinking any water. He will only get one or two sips at a time and that is if I make him drink it. I've started putting a little water in with his rice, figured that was better than no water at all. The vet said that him not drinking is normal because he received so much yesterday. So we will wait and see what she says in the morning when she calls back. On the other side his appetite is defiantly back and he is loving his new diet of rice and chicken! For now Bo is feeling better and has even played a lot today, running and chasing after his ball. Here are some pictures that I took today....
I'm feeling lots better today!! Playing in the kitchen.
I'm so hungry. He was watching my Mom make our dinner. Look at that adorable little face!
Here is Bo trying to climb the cabinets to get his dinner. He never does this, so I knew he was hungry. All in all Bo is feeling much better today. I will let you all know tomorrow what our vet says again. He may or may not have to go in for a check up. Thank you all once again for your thoughts, suggestions, and for praying for my little Bo.

So, so glad to hear that Bo is okay! I've been thinking of you guys.
I haven't posted before, but I've been following your blog for a couple months. My heart goes out to you for everything you've been through. I continue to be overwhelmed by your strength - as well as your honesty and candor as you discover your new normal.
Thanks for the update! Give Bo a scratch behind the ears for me.
Erin
I'm so glad Bo is better!!
Hugs,
Amanda
Glad to hear he's feeling better. I know that must have been scary for you. Sunshine (my boston terrier) has gotten sick a few times and whenever she wont drink any water i give her an ice cube. It may take her a while to lick all (and make a mess) but she also has fun playing with it. Makes her feel better.
Just a thought...if you can go to the pharmacy, and ask the pharmacist for a syringe (not a needle), you can gently dribble water down the side of Bo's mouth, inbetween his lip and gum. He will swallow it.
Just do that every so often, a couple of times, and it will help him from being dehydrated.
If his gums are whitish, it's a good sign he's getting too dehydrated.
Zack the Wonderdog and I have learned this the hard way...but it was the very best thing I ever dreamed up, and the vet said it really helped.
Glad to hear he is feeling better! adorable photos!

Oh poor little guy I'm glad he is feeling better. I'm with you though about sticking with your gut even if it turns out fine. I know you are feeling better about taking him in.
He is so cute! I have a Boston too and when I first moved into my house, I would leave him out in the summer in fenced in yard. Apparently the meter reader left my gate open and when I got home, he was gone. I wailed!! Ran around my neighborhood looking for him, knocking on doors, asking people if they had seen him. He had just made some new friends with the contruction workers in the house down the street. I also cried for an hour last week when I had to take him to the vet with a stomach bug. I am very attatched!!! It's okay to worry about him!
Your Bo is sooo........cute!!! Have two cats and an American Eskimo dog. I know how wonderful it is to have companions who offer unconditional love and bring a smile to our face when life has been hard.
Peace, Blessings, and Prayers...
I'm glad that Bo is on the mend. He is so cute. I have 3 cats right now, but someday I want a dog. I may have to look into that breed because he is so adorable and seems like a great companion.
So happy to hear he is on the mend. Hope he continues to feel better.
Like everyone else has mentioned, you are incredibly inspiring and seem so strong. I love my husband of almost 10 years and would never want anything to happen to him, but we surely don't have the relationship as it sounds you & Shawn did. I thought the thumbprint pendant was such a neat thing to have - I love that you were going to give it your precious baby. How thoughtful! The journey necklace & ring are just beautiful! Enjoy them! I am looking forward to reading your blogs in the future. I have been telling my mom about you and your blog and she asked me again, "And you don't even know this girl?" I said, "Nope, but I sure feel like I do." Take good care!

Wow, Bo is absolutely adorable, still. I'm so glad that he is feeling so much better and eating. That's wonderful! And he's not just a dog. After all you have been through this dog is so much more than just a dog.
Glad he's doing better. It's tough when you have a pet that's sick, since they can't tell you what's wrong.
You did the right thing by taking him in over the weekend!
Hoping he's feeling even better today.
Still praying for you, too, girl!
Im so glad Bo's feeling better! I know with him being sick though it has meant lots of extra snuggling with him...which I know you so dont mind!
Been thinking of you both the past couple of days. Hope he continues to feel better, he might not eat his regular dog food after that 5 star meal of ckn & rice.
Have a good day
YAY!!!! so glad he's feeling better! and NEVER NEVER NEVER let anyone get away with saying he's "just" a dog...if anyone says that, they don't understand and don't WANT to understand the bond between you and him and what he does for you...
Praise the Lord! Have a wonderful day together.
He is not just a dog. He is your little boy. :o) Glad he's better, Jen!
So so so gald he is feeling better.
Love the pictures!
So glad that he is better :) I love the pictures of him, he is so cute...

Happy to see Bo is feeling better. I know how it is to feel when your dog it not feeling okay. You know it and do what you can to help them feel better.
No such thing as "just" a dog, they become part of our family and we love them like our family. I'm glad he's feeling better. Boiled hamburger and rice (make sure it's long-grain) and, as you know boiled chicken and rice can help their upset stomach. Also, you can give dogs pepto-bismol - my dog has a sensitive stomach and I've given him pepto. This link has other meds that are safe to give to canines.

I'm so glad that Bo is feeling better!
Jen, I wanted to personally invite you to the "Remarkable Women" study that begins on Feb. 1. You can find details at http://makerminute.blogspot.com/2009/01/youre-invited.html
So happy Bo's doing well! WHat a cutie!
What a cute dog!!!
When I came home from the hospital after my ruptured ectopic, my (then) puppy was by my side all the time. When I was at my worst, he was the only comfort.
It struck a cord with me when you wrote about how your vet understood when you were a little nuts. I sure wish my vet's office had been so understanding! Our dogs were our only children for a long time, and I often felt they were giving me the "crazy lady" look. I'm glad you don't have to deal with that!
