#17-Bo

Bo is now 8 weeks old as of last Friday. He goes to the vet on Thursday for his 9 weeks shots. He is doing pretty well. However, he LOVES to bite anything and everything. The table, shoes, socks, pant legs, arms, feet, toes and his blanket. The only thing he doesn't really chew on is all the toys that I got for him. He will play with them if I'm sitting on the floor with him, but they are not his chewy items of choice. I hope the chewing phase leaves us quickly. I have bruises all over my body from where he has 'accidentally' nipped me. He has been sleeping much better. The last 2 nights he has slept from 10:00-6:00, gets up at six to go outside and then has slept until 11:00 the last two mornings. Nice...it is giving me time to read Twilight. I'm sure the sleeping won't last, but it has been nice the last two days. He goes everywhere with me in the house, he even sits in the bathroom with me while I'm doing my hair. Yes, you could say he is a bit spoiled. He has stopped crying when he is in his little crate, but still hates the big one. Bo goes to the bathroom outside every time, but still has the occasional accident in the house. He is getting the idea of potty training, but I wouldn't consider him trained yet. He loves to cuddle and snuggle with me on the couch and is getting bigger every day. He is quite the handful, but he has been taking my mind off of things. Enjoy the pictures. Bo loves to snuggle with me and his blue baby blanket.
Bo and Logan in a staring contest. I think Logan won!

Ok, before anyone makes a comment, let me explain. I was told that Boston's get very cold while outside especially in the winter. It was 30 degrees and windy in Michigan on Sunday. He needed his coat. I admit it, he does hate it and I'm sure he hates me for putting him in it.

Smile for the camera! (not so much)

Here is is sitting on my lap in all his U of M gear. This was supposed to be his Halloween costume, but it was way to big. He does like to wear his jersey, the hat, not so much!

Not very happy in this picture, he wanted the hat off bad. I needed just one picture.

Playing in his pillow of toys.

Bo's newest trick...pulling on the kitchen rug. He thinks he is a big strong dog.

Those are most of the picture's I've taken over the last few days. I will take more soon, and share them with you all again.

Aw, he looks so big and strong pulling the rug up. My mom has a coat for her little chihuahua that looks just like Bo's coat. I put it on her this evening as we took her out for a ride.

Cutie pa-tutie! I love animals that have such a strong personality and Bo seems to be one of those!! I enjoyed dressing my dogs when I was growing up, I went a little too far and bought them booties so their feet wouldn't get cold in the snow... Thanks for posting!!

The photo's are so cute!!! My last puppy used to nip as well. We took her for puppy socialization training and the trainer gave us a great tip. She says that puppies learn from each other but when they're taken from the litter they don't have their siblings to learn an appropriate bite reflex from. So it sounds silly but really worked for us, what we had to do, was every time she nipped us, we had to let out these high pitched yelping sounds like a puppy would make. She'd immidiatley stop biting and sit and look at us and after a while she learnt an appropriate bite reflex.
Just a bit of assvise, use it, don't use it. :-)

Adorable! I want a new puppy - but we don't have the room! Until then, I will look at pictures of yours!

He's so cute!

I agree with Sharonvw that you should address the nipping. It's cute when they are puppies, but not so cute when they get older (or nip a stranger or small child). And that pretty much goes for all bad behavior- what's cute as a puppy cab become a major problem when they grow up (chewing, housebreaking, biting, etc).

With our dog, when he nipped, we would stop playing, hold his mouth closed, and say "no bite."

AWWW!! Makes me miss my little Boston as a puppy - she's almost 9 and let me warn you - still as hyper as she was when we got her!!

As far as the chewing goes - we found that our Boston likes the Nylabone brands - you can buy them in different sizes and that was what we found her preference to be for chewing! Although - we have the marks on our kitchen chairs still almost 9 years later... Enjoy him - he is TOO CUTE!

What a cute little boy. I love him in his coats and clothes. Sugar use to hate it when I put on the coats and her different clothes. I just did it to keep her warm.

When I would take off the coat after she was done being outside. She would take off with the coat and tear into it showing the coat how much she loved I mean did not like it.

I really like Bo. Those pictures put a smile on my face.

Yeah - looking at these pictures - I can see he's a tad spoiled - but that's a fur-mommy's job - to spoil these puppies... he's adorable!

Usually I am just a lurker on your blog but decided to comment today bc I LOVE Bostons! I had one as a child and now how one of my one. They are so faithful and loving! When mine was a puppy she had a chewing problem too. Anything she could get, the couch, the table, shoes, etc. The only thing that I have found that works is a spray called "Bitter Apple Spray". It is safe for puppies because it is natural. You can use it on anything, shoes, wood, fabric, whatever. Apparently it tastes bad to dogs so they learn not to chew those things. I only had to use it twice before she stopped altogether! It is completely odorless too. You can get it at most pet stores. It saved my sanity in those crazy puppy months! Good luck!

Way cute!

With regard to the crate, if it is too big, he will have issues. A crate is supposed to be big enough for him to turn around in comfortably, but not too much bigger. Obviously that is difficult to do when they are puppies, but it makes a difference. Our puppy (ok, he is two)was the same way when he was little, but because we knew he was going to be a big dog (70 pounds), we got the big crate--it was going to be too expensive to keep upgrading. Once he grew into it, he was much happier and now takes to going into the crate during the day when he needs some down time.

Awww, Bo is so cute in his little jacket! My Bo and Roxy wear sweaters when it's cold out and they hate it but it makes them look so cute!
