Weekend Review in Mostly Pictures

Well I'm back from a quick weekend trip. This weekend my entire family and I went to my Grandma's house in Traverse City, Michigan. Have any of you ever been there? This week was the annual Cherry Festival. The town is packed and I mean packed with tourists from everywhere during this week. Traverse City is always busy in the summer time, but this week especially.

For a change this year we all decided to stay at the house instead of go to the Cherry Festival. The weather was WONDERFUL the entire weekend and it was nice just to hang out outside. Saturday we all got up around 9:00 and just sat in the living room talking. My brother Matt and his girl friend Erika also have a Boston Terrier named Porter that came up for the weekend as well. Porter and Bo love playing with each other and spent much of the weekend running back and forth in the living room or in the back yard. Here is a picture of Bo and Porter. One of the few moments they weren't running all over creation!

Saturday around 12:30, Matt, Erika, myself and my sister Katie all decided to head to the beach. We jumped in the boat and off we went. It was the perfect day for the beach. Not sweltering hot, but not chilly either. It was just right. I think we stayed at the beach until around 3:30. Then we headed back to the house to get the dogs so they could play in the water too. Porter was in the lake last year and loved it, but this was the first for Bo. My mom got both dogs life jackets to wear while they are in the boat. Safety first! (yes they make life jackets for dogs...crazy I know!)

I so can't believe that I'm showing this picture to all the blogging world, but here it goes...Jen in her bathing suit and Bo in his life jacket wrapped up in a towel because he was cold. Bo loved the boat. He just sat by by feet while the boat was moving. Next are the pictures of Bo's first time swimming in the lake. My brother jumped in first and took turns swimming with both dogs. Bo HATED it, but he did really well swimming!

"Keep my head up...keep my head up!!"

"I may be a good swimmer, but it doesn't mean I have to like it! I want my Mommy and I want her now!"
This was Bo's first time in the deep water. He wasn't so sure of it.

Bo in his life jacket before the boat took off. (He doesn't look too happy does he?)

This picture cracks me up. The life jackets have handles on them so my brother thought it would be funny to pick both Bo and Porter up for just a second. Both dogs look totally pissed. I bet they are thinking that we have all totally lost it.
The rest of Saturday we just messed around in the boat. After we ate dinner I curled up on the couch for the rest of the night and read one of the best books I have read in a long time. I Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson. It was such a good book. The end hit a little too close to home for me, but it was still a great book. Yes, I read the entire book in one night. I couldn't put it down.
Sunday was another great day enjoyed outside, on the boat at the beach. We left at 11:00 and got back home around 3:00. The weather was wonderful once again. The water however was freezing, but nice to get into real quick once you got hot from the sun. Once we got back to the house we all ate left overs for dinner and then started getting our things together to head home.
My sister and I got back home around 7:00. Bo was so tired from playing all weekend with Porter that all he wanted to do was lay on the couch.
That about sums up my weekend, dogs playing, sun, boat, beach, swimming, reading and relaxing. Not too exciting but much needed as well.

Sounds like you had a great weekend! We used to go to a lake close by where I grew up and I remember riding in the boat and loved being on the water! Bo looks so cute in his life jacket!!

I read Sunday at Tiffany's last Summer! Such a great book! I too read it in 2 days!! James Patterson has a couple of other great books similar to this one!! Can't remember the names right now but one of them has the name Jennifer in the title!! That's what drew me to it at the public library a couple of Summers ago!!

Yes, I would love to be a guest blogger for you!! Email me and let me know what day. The end of this week would be better for me. I am out of town right now!!

Ok, talk to you soon!!

Wow it looks like you had a fun time. The picture of the dogs in their life jackets is hilarious. We went to Gulf Shores last week and I will be posting those pictures some time tonight.

I just read through your last few posts and that is so great about the 2 awards that he won. I will be praying for you on that day because I can only imagine how happy and sad you will be all in one day.
