My Trip...Part 2

Well are you all ready to read about part two of my trip? If not you can skip this post. (I won't be offended in the least)

On Saturday Megan and I were going to get up and take Logan to the Jelly Belly Factory. Ok, Logan wasn't really the one who wanted to go. I admit it was all me. I was so excited to be able to tour the Jelly Belly Factory. I LOVE Jelly Belly's. However, when Meg and I woke up on Saturday neither one of us felt like doing anything. So we didn't. Tom was still gone so Meg, Logan and I sat around the house most of the day just relaxing. Mr. Logan and I snuggling on the couch. That's what we did most of the morning.

Around lunch time Megan's dad came over for a short visit. I met Megan's Dad briefly about six years ago when Meg graduated. I only talked to him for just a second. So once again it was great to be able to meet him and be able to talk to another person in Meg's family that I had heard so much about. Her Dad was much like her sister Erin, was so incredibly nice to talk to and made me feel at ease right away. After Meg's dad left Meg and I sat down to eat lunch. Neither of us wanted to eat a whole lot because later that night was "Girls Night" and we were going out. So we ate a sandwich and chips and just kind of talked and hung out a bit.

By three o'clock Logan was still sleeping so Meg and I thought it would be a good idea to start getting ready for a night out on the town. Tom was going to stay home with Logan and Meg and I were going to go out to a country western bar with her Aunts. Megan and her Aunts and cousins go out on the third Saturday of every month. It just so happened that I was there and go to go along. Again it was so nice to put faces with the names that I have heard so much about. They all said the same about me. I must admit I was a little nervous to go to a country western bar. I don't dance, I don't have it in me. However, I knew they were giving line dancing lessons at the bar and I knew I would have to dance. The pressure was on.
These are two pictures of Megan and I right before we got ready to leave. I actually like the close up a bit better than the one that is farther away.
We arrived at the restaurant a little after 7:00 for our dinner. We had heard so many great things about the food so we were all excited to eat. After eating we weren't really so sure why the food was raved about. It wasn't all that great and was highly over priced. Most of us ended up picking the sauce off of our pasta because the sauce was so thick and it tasted like glue instead of Alfredo sauce. (not that I've ever eaten glue, but you get what I mean) All that was ok because once we each got a few drinks in us we forgot about the food. Keep in mind when you read this that I typically don't drink. I may have a Mike's Hard Lemonade every once in a while, but I'm not what you call a big drinker. I think by the end of the night I had around 5 drinks and one shot. I don't think I have ever before in my life have done a shot! Once I found out that Megan had ordered us all shots I was a bit scared. What if that shot knocked me off my butt? I didn't want to feel like crap in the morning. Megan told me that the shot would taste like a fruit drink and that I would like it. She was right...the shot was really good. All it ended up doing was make me chill out a bit and have a great time as the night went on. (oh and don't worry, Meg's one aunt stopped drinking very early in the night so we were all safe to drive home)
Here we are doing our shot!
After the shots it was time to hit the dance floor! YIKES!!! As I said earlier, I'm not a dancer, not one little bit. At my own wedding two different people told me to sit down because I didn't have any rhythm. Apparently the drinks helped because I actually did pretty well. There was an instructor there who taught us the steps as we went. The first dance we were taught was called the Cow Girl Twist and it was pretty easy to learn. The rest of the night we just watched the other dancers and picked up the steps on our own as the night went on. It was lots of fun and I'm so glad that we did that. Next time I'm going to wear my cowboy boots...yes I have cowboy boots...two different pairs. After the line dancing was over we went to another small bar. There we listened to people sing Karaoke. Some of them could sing and some of them could not. By 11:30 most of us were falling asleep so we decided to call it a night. Megan and I got home, took off our make-up and went straight to bed, we were both so tired.
Sunday morning I went to church with Megan, Logan and her Aunts. Yes, even after a night of fun and some drinking we all got up and were in church by 9:30. Go us!! After church Meg, Logan and I headed to a birthday party for Megan's God son. Once again I got to meet people that I have heard Meg talk so much about. The party was fun and we ate the best pulled pork BBQ sandwich I think I have ever eaten.
After the birthday party it was time for the Jelly Belly Factory. We decided not to take the tour of the factory and just to in and look around the store instead. We were all getting tired and didn't want to take the time for the tour. When you walk into the store you have to walk past the Jelly Belly car...a Jelly Belly Bug...
Once inside the store there were Jelly Belly's everywhere and I mean everywhere! They had a Jelly Belly Bar where you could sample all of the new flavors that they were making. Or you could even sample a flavor you have never tried before. Then they had these huge bags of jelly beans that are called "Jelly Flops" and they are jelly beans that for what ever reason didn't make it into the boxes or bags of other Jelly Belly's. The had the same flavor as the regular jelly beans but their shapes were off so they couldn't be sold. Needless to say I brought two bags of Jelly Flops to bring back home with me.
Here are the three of us inside the Jelly Belly store.
The rest of Sunday night was spent relaxing. We were all really starting to get tired from all the running around that we had been doing. Meg even fell asleep on the couch for a little while. That gave Tom and I some time to hang out, talk and watch the Tour de France together. I think all of us were asleep by 10:00 on Sunday! One funny thing that happened Sunday night...Megan had just finished giving Logan his bottle before he went to bed. Meg asked him if he wanted to give me a kiss good night. He shook his head yes. So just as he was bending down to kiss me and I was going to meet him in the middle Logan opened up his mouth and decided it would be the perfect time to throw up a little. Thank God I saw it coming otherwise I would have had a full mouth of Logan puke in it. Megan and I laughed so hard about that. It was actually really funny to watch it all happen.
Monday was another day spent by the pool. Three of Megan's girlfriend met us at the pool and we all just sat around talking. It was so much fun to get to meet some of Meg's friends. They were all so nice and welcomed me into the group. We all talked and talked the entire afternoon while we sat in the sun by the pool. It was a great way to spend my last full day. On Monday night we all just kind of sat around Meg's house and hung out together. Once again we all went to bed pretty early. I think all of the fun, the running around, the eating of junk food, and drinking was catching up to us all.
Tuesday morning I got up and got all of my stuff packed so I could spend as much time with Megan and Logan as I could before leaving. We left for the airport around 11:00. Once we got the airport we fed Logan and I ate a little something myself. Then before I had to go through security we let Logan run around a bit. It was so funny to watch Logan explore such a big space. Then it was time for me to get on my plane. We both knew we were going to cry when I left. I gave Logan a kiss and told him that I loved him. Then I gave Meg an huge hug, thanked her for letting me visit, thanked her for being an awesome friend and told her I loved her too. Then Megan looked at me and without skipping a beat she told me not to cry so I wouldn't ruin my make-up...you know just in case I happened to be sitting next to a hot guy or something. (Just in case you were wondering...that did not happen!)
I had a wonderful time visiting Megan. I made several new memories while I was there and got to meet a lot of new people. I spent so much time with Megan and Logan and I can't wait to go back again. Now that I know I can do it I can for sure see myself going back for more visits. Meg and I already decided we aren't going another seven years without seeing each other. I may even think about going back after Thanksgiving and doing some Christmas shopping there. Do you see a trend?...Meg and I LOVE to shop!
Two last pictures take just as we were leaving the house on Tuesday.
Thanks for reading about my trip!

You girls are just beautiful! Glad you had a great trip. She sounds like one of those perfect friends that you can't imagine your life without.

You are so much like me, in that I rarely drink, and if I do it's a Mike's Hard Lemonade or Malibu and Orange Juice. I will have no more than 2-3 drinks a night and I have NEVER done a shot! I am glad you had fun dancing!

So happy to see you overcoming the things that were once unheard of...I mean, I'm a Texas girl and you wouldn't catch me on a country dance floor! And flying by yourself, with a lay over no less!! I'm super proud of you & just wanted to tell you that your an inspiration! I think we're very much alike in a lot of ways. I don't drink & I'm scared of alot of silly, little things (like driving in big cities!) You encourage me, watching you tackle these fears one at a time! I'm so glad you had a great trip! Meg sounds sooo awesome!

I'm totally craving some jelly beans now, BTW. :-)
