Spring Time Flower Arrangement

Well I think Spring may have finally sprung here in Michigan!! (thank goodness, I really don't know how much more winter/cold I could have taken!) With spring time comes the blooming of new and pretty flowers of the season. I love the time of year when you finally start to see the tulips and other spring flowers popping up through the ground. I always kind of find it refreshing to see these flowers start to bloom.

Spring time was also the time of year that I would always get some sort of fresh flowers from Shawn. He wasn't big on getting me flowers any other time of year. I typically only got flowers this time of the year because Shawn liked the looks and smells of fresh spring flowers. Almost weekly Shawn would stop at the store on his way home from work and get me some sort of spring flowers or a spring flower arrangement. The flowers always added so much to our house. I would always put them in a crystal vase and set them on the center of the kitchen table. This year however I will not be getting my weekly spring time flower arrangements from Shawn. Instead I get to give them to Shawn this year and for the years to come. April 1 marked the first day of the season where flowers could be placed back on the graves at the cemetery where Shawn is at. However, the flowers can't be real, the must be fake. So this weekend my mom and I went to the local craft store and picked out some flowers to put in the hanging basket that I got for Shawn's flowers. We got a variety of spring flowers, although most of the flowers have some sort of meaning behind why I picked them. Here is the basket sitting on the table before I took it to the cemetery.

The arrangement consists of yellow and orange Tulips, White Calla Lillie's, purple Hydrangea's, White Daffodil's, and some extra white flowers as filler. I chose the Tulips because they are about one of my favorite types of flower. They were also the first type of spring flower that Shawn would bring home to me. The white Calla Lillie's were given to us in a flower arrangement and vase gift set from one of our best friends at our wedding. So I thought instead of using them in another arrangement I would put them in the basket for Shawn. I put in purple Hydrangea's because they were the flower that the my bridesmaids carried and Shawn's boutnniere was made out of in our wedding and last but not least the white Daffodil's. I picked those because the white Daffodil's was Shawn's favorite spring flower. (he only liked the white ones with the yellow centers) The basket hanging just above Shawn's headstone. So for this year and for the years to come I will be the one giving Shawn the spring time flowers. I hope he enjoys getting flowers from me just as much as I loved getting them from him. I also have a block M (for UofM) that will go out there as well, we just need to weather proof it before I can set it out on his grave. Once summer time is here I will switch up the flowers and then once fall gets here and football season starts his UofM basket will go back out.

Many of you commented on my bracelet and wondered why I didn't have a charm on it for the baby. I thought about it but the only charms they had for a baby was either a shoe, bottle, carriage, or pacifier and I didn't really want to look down at my wrist every day and see that type of reminder. Then I happened to think of a birthstone charm. So today I went back to the store and got a charm with Aprils' birthstone in it. I figured my due date was April 18th so that would be a great way to remember our baby as well without having to look down and see a baby bottle charm staring back up at me. It looks really nice next to the football charm. Thank you to those of you who asked and wondered about that.
Well I have some packing to finish up. I'm leaving again in the morning for another trip to Youngstown. I will be having Easter dinner with my friend Lora's family, spending some time with Jennie and her family and going to a wedding with "T" next Saturday. All in all I should have another fun, busy and exciting trip.
If I don't get a chance to post again before Sunday I hope you all have a great Easter and enjoy spending the day with your family and friends.

Hey Jen!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in awhile - I've been reading all the new posts though and plan to get back to commenting on a regular basis.

I wanted to let you know how beautiful Shawn's flower arragement is. I was touched by the symbolism in all your choices too. It brought tears to my eyes to see such obvious love and care.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter - and best wishes for a safe trip!
