What's Been Goin' on with Bo?

I realized earlier today that I haven't talked too much about Bo the last month or so. I don't even think I have posted any pictures of him since Christmas time. So I figured that tonight's post would be dedicated to my sweet little baby Bo. He actually has had a lot going on in his little puppy life the last few weeks.

Bo is just about 6 months old now. He is getting bigger and bigger every day. I really can't believe how much he has grown since I brought him home on Halloween. He was only 3 pounds then and as of Tuesday he was 18. I'm thinking he is just about done growing. I hope he is getting close to being done, I think he is just the right size. Big enough that we can't step on him any more, but not to big to sit and snuggle with you on your lap.

Speaking of snuggling, Bo still loves to snuggle. Every chance he gets he climbs up on my lap and sits with me on the couch. Lately he has even been sitting on my lap when I'm on the computer looking at blogs or facebook. I think he likes the sound of the keys when I'm typing. When I'm sitting watching T.V. he will always bring a toy or a bone and jump up on my lap and play with it. Usually at night before he goes to bed he will sit with my sister on the couch and chill out for a while. He has been a little snuggler since the first night I brought him home.

I think I mentioned before that around Thanksgiving time Bo started sleeping with me in my bed. One night he woke up around 3:00 in the morning crying, I picked him up and put him in bed with me and the rest is history. I've tried several times to have him sleep in his crate next to my bed but he just won't do it. He goes to bed in his crate around 10:00 and will usually only last for an hour or two before he MUST crawl into bed with me. One night he did make it to almost 4:00 and I thought we were on to something, but it was just a one night fluke. I have to admit I really don't mind that he sleeps with me. He is cozy and warm and he is a good "spooner" and I really miss that, so for now he is staying with me in my bed. Lately though he has been doing this weird thing. He will fall asleep right next to me but then sometime during the night he will wonder down to the end of the bed by my feet and burrow his little self under all the blankets. Strange little dog I have.

Two weeks ago Bo finished up "Puppy school". All I have to say about that is that we did 'ok'. I think we just barely passed the class. Oops! According to the trainer we or I (depending how you want to look at it) are doing things wrong. I guess he isn't supposed to be sleeping with me. Apparently when a dog sleeps with it's owner it never understands who is boss and will take advantage of the situation. I don't know if I totally agree with that or not. I just kind of looked at her and said whatever my dog is sleeping with me. She also told me that Bo is way to attached to me. What can I say...I spend my entire day with him, I got him so we could be together and I don't crate him when I'm at home. I thinks he just loves me a lot! Is there something wrong with that?

Bo also misses all of his little brothers. When we were in Youngstown Bo really enjoyed playing with Luca, Devin, Nuby and Peyton. The kids and Bo would play for hours, they were great entertainment for Bo. He didn't get into "trouble" once the whole time we were there. I think it is because he played with the kids for so long every day. Even now being home for a week I will ask him where one of the boys are and he will tilt his little head and look at the door for them. So cute!

The biggest thing that has gone on in Bo's doggie life the last few days is pretty big. He had the big appointment with the vet on Tuesday. He went into the office a little boy, and came out of the office a little it. Yup, I got him fixed. He doesn't seem to mind one little bit. While he was there he also had to have his little nose operated on. He was born with very small nostrils and was having a hard time breathing through his nose. Bo would walk around the house grunting and gasping all of the time. Anyways the vet said it was unhealthy for him and that it would only get worse as he gets older. So while he was under from the neuter they made him bigger nostrils as well. Only my dog would wind up getting plastic surgery! He is doing really well and I think it did make a difference, Bo still snorts and grunts but it is nothing like it was. I posted pictures below. (The white stuff on his nose is the scabs from surgery)

Bo has learned a new trick. I really think he is Tigger from Winnie the Pooh. He jumps on his back legs like there is no tomorrow. I was watching him earlier today and he can almost jump onto the counter. He stands on his back legs and propels his little self into the air, lands on his back legs and jumps some more. It is really funny to watch, but I don't want my dog jumping up on the counter. (even I know that isn't good)

Now for some pictures of Bo:
I took this earlier today. Although he is feeling good from his surgery I think he still looks awful pathetic in this picture.

Sitting like a good boy waiting for his treat. Isn't he cute?!

Here he is sitting on the couch chewing on his favorite toys...rawhide bones. He actually is chewing on two different bones in this picture. Bo also loves to bite and chase ice cubes. He will chase it around the house, corner it, pick it up in his mouth and take it to the couch and eat it. Crazy little dog.
O.k...this is a bit ridiculous...I thought this would be a short post for me. Instead I have just written an entire long, long post about what my dog has been up to for the last 2 months...I need to get more of a life! :)
Hey Luca, Devin, Nuby and Peyon: Bo says "Hi" and he loves you!!

Okay the trainer and I have to have a talk. Who cares if Bo sleeps in the bed or not and is totally attached too much. I was so like that with my little Sugar and I loved it. She was fine and knew when I meant "No" and when to behave. My Timmy sleeps with us and knows we are in charge. Enjoy Bo and who cares if he sleeps with you.

P.S. Alyce loves the pictures. She said, DOG DOG!!

I loved the doggie post! Before Mason my little Shihtzu Peanut was the baby, I took him everywhere with me and even though it wasn't healthy he got one breast from "Popeyes Chicken" everyday...he refuses to eat dog food so I'm not going to starve the little guy...and he literally wont eat anything but chicken breasts! He is the pickiest dog! Everyone at Popeyes Chicken knows him by name...I know its not healthy do feed him fried chicken but its also not healthy to NOT eat! My family cracks up at how spoiled he is. He also loves rawhide but I dont allow him to have it because somehow he ALWAYS manages to chock on it...i dont get it! Anyways, well now I'm rambling about my dog too!

Bo is SOOO cute..I'm glad he keeps you good cmpany! :)

Oh I had to add one more thing, since Peanut only eats chicken breasts my family and friends always laugh and say he's "breast-fed". :)

I love the pictures of Bo! He's so freaking cute. My Bo likes to snuggle and spoon in bed too. Our dogs are horribly spoiled too and I can't imagine them not sleeping in bed with us!

You don't know but I have been reading your blog for....a while. I just wanted to say that I agree with you and you should ignore the trainor. i really don't like some of them. Seriously, you are human the dog is a dog...you are the ruler...duh. Let him sleep in your bed. You need it and he was ripped away from his family too so he needs it. Enjoy!

It's funny that you commented on my blog tonight because I found your blog and read a bunch of it today for the first time.
Your story broke my heart. I can't even begin to imagine the year you have had. I'm so extremely sorry for the loss of your husband. I have been thinking about you all day and I will be praying that God gives you extra comfort to face the future.
P.S. bo is too cute!
