Well it looks like the bad luck is continuing to happen in our family. Man I hope it's not following me here from when I left Ohio. (Shawn and I always had the worst luck)
After Shawn died both my brother and dad thought it would be a good idea to have a complete physical and have their hearts checked out...just to make sure. My brother's results were great. Most of my dad's results came back good as well. There was one test that said his calcium level was a little high, but nothing to be 'worried' about. His Dr. referred him to a cardiologist just to make sure. He met with him last Thursday and he wants to perform a Cardiac Cath this Friday just to make sure there are no blockages in any of his arteries. If there is a small blockage then he will have a stint put in, if there is more than he will be scheduled for bypass. There also could be nothing wrong, like I said this is just a precautionary thing more than anything I think. We are really hoping and praying that there is nothing wrong. The only 'good' thing in this situation is that my both my dad and brother got checked out because of Shawn's death. Shawn dying made them more aware of their heart health and prompted them to get checked out and the tests done.
Then....
Last night on my sisters way home from work she was in a car accident. She was only going 30mph, but the other guy was going a little faster. For some reason he swerved into her lane and hit her front bumper to front bumper. Both cars were totalled. It wasn't her fault, so she didn't get a ticket, which is good. She went to the ER after the accident and had X-rays done, just to make sure nothing was broken. She hit her face and chest on the steering wheel. X-rays said nothing was broken. She has tons of big bruises on her. One on her neck, a seat belt mark a crossed her chest, another seat belt bruise on her lower stomach, a bruise on her knee, and another one on her shin, where she racked it on the emergency break. She stayed home from work today because she is really sore, not sure what she is going to do tomorrow. Thankfully bruises is all that she has. She/we were all lucky there.
Man can you say bad luck in our family!! It needs to stop and it needs to stop right now!Seriously don't know how much more we can all handle.
Anyways please give us some good thoughts/prayers for my dad's test on Friday. I'm thinking we could use all the extra thoughts we could get at this point and time.

I have been reading your blog since finding you on Bring the Rain. My heart goes out to you. I will definitely be sending you (and your family- especially your dad) good thoughts, wishes, and prayers. If anyone deserves it right now, it is you.
Your dad is in my prayers and your sister! May God's healing Grace give all of you peace.
I'm so glad your sister is okay.
Bless your heart! I will keep ALL of you in my prayers! I am glad that your sister is okay and hope things go well on Friday for your Dad.

Jennifer

Thank goodness your Sister is ok! I'll be praying that all goes well with your Dad!
Your dad is in my prayers. I am glad your sister is ok. I hope that feeling of bad luck ends soon! I am sure Bo will bring you some joy when you can finally take him home. Oh- I found your blog from Bring the Rain :)
Oh, I am sorry about everything. I am so glad your dad and brother went to get their heart health looked at. Now your dad can get this taken care of and continue on with his life.
I hope your sister heals well. Sounds like she is going to be sore!
Praying for your family.
I will pray for your Dad.
And for good things to start coming your way. I just dont understand why sometimes when it rains, it pours, and it doesnt quit. It's gotta stop somewhere.
Sending good vibes all around.
It does seem to happen like that - all sorts of bad at once!!!! Hang in there - there will be all sorts of good coming soon!!!!
We'll pray for your dad Friday - let us know how it goes! & glad your sis is OK
Consider it done. Things will start to get better. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
Keeping you all in my thoughts.
It sounds like good luck to me! Your father could have had something seriously wrong with his, your sister could have been seriously injured (or worse) in the car accident. How lucky that she walked away with only bruises! Maybe they have a guardian angel in Shawn watching out for them- letting them know the right thing to do (like go to the doctor or wear a seat belt)?
My father didn't get a preemptive checkup on his heart and wound up having a heart attack- ambulance, emergency catheterization, etc. The way your dad doing things is much, much better.
Not to be an annoying, 'there's always a silver lining/glass is half full' kind of person, but this string of 'bad luck' could have been so much worse that it sounds like good luck to me!
I'll keep your family in my thoughts that your dad's procedure finds nothing to worry about and that he and your sister make speedy recoveries.
I have been praying for you and your family and will continue to do so.

Sure thing!
You all are in my prayers. I know it seems like a lot. Same happened here when my Daddy died. My 20 yr old cousin died 12 days later, 2 days shy of his 21st birthday & then my husbands best friend was killed. I pray that God will give you the strength you need each day.
Wow - you and your family are really being dealt some heavy stuff.
Still praying for you!
I'm glad your sister is okay, despite the bruises. I hope all goes well with your dad's test on Friday.
I left something for you on my blog, so hop over to check it out! :-)
I am glad your sister is okay! That is so scary.
Remember - it is a good thing your Dad is doing all of this early. I am proud of your dad and brother for getting a check-up because it is so hard for men to do sometimes.
Your family is in my thoughts!
I just stumbled across your blog... and I can't even imagine all that you've been through in the last couple of months. I'm so sorry for your losses... and pray that you will be protected and strengthened to make it through this time.
I'm grieving the loss of our twin daughters... but, I have the hardest time imagining how it would be to lose my husband. My heart aches for your loss and I just want you to know that my thoughts and prayers will be with you.
If you're interested, I also read the blog of another woman who lost her husband unexpectedly last year... maybe you'll find some support and comfort from reading her experience - http://leslieandaaron.blogspot.com/
All my love and best wishes to you.
Megan
I will agree with Courtney on this one. Maybe this is the turning point for your family and instead of thinking of this as "bad luck" think of the blessings your family recieved this past week.
The day my Dad was rushed to the emergency room and taken in for immediate surgery I will always think of as one of the most blessed days of my life. The Lord was watching him and he did come out alive, though he still has one blockage that remains and is too dangerous to stint.
Your sister too is very blessed to only have bruises. Those bruises from the seatbelt just goes to show how bad it may have been.
I am always a silver lining girl too. So try to think that maybe this is your luck changing and how blessed this weeks events truly were.
I know it is so hard sometimes.
Still enjoy reading your blog every morning.
Good luck to your dad for his test and healing vibes for your sister!!
Thinking of you and your family! ((HUGS))
