Yup....I've Been A Slacker

You read that right....I have been slacking big time this summer and I need to get my act together and quick! Other than obviously blogging, or lack there of (I hardly think one post a week qualifies as a blogger:) I have also been a slacker in the area of working out and going to the gym. Wait...correction, I have been a HUGE slacker when it has came to working out this summer. This time last year and over the winter I was going to the gym at least four days a week if not five or even six days. I was going that often and on top of that I was totally loving it! I was really starting to like how my body was looking. After years of having only flab I was actually starting to build muscle, especially in places where I never had any before. On top of all that it was helping greatly in reducing my stress. Fast forward with me to this summer...

Currently I'm only going to the gym two days a week, one day a week on a bad week and possibly three during a good week. Big big step down from this winter and spring. I also have only been doing my Pilate's DVD one or two days a week instead of four as well. See I'm a BIG slacker! I hate that I have let myself down like this and I have to admit I'm kind of disappointed in myself. On top of that for the last two or three weeks I have only been getting my cardio in from walking or maybe jogging Bo around the block. I have only been lifting at the gym, not doing any extra cardio at all. Bad, bad Jenny! I'm certainly not going to lose any extra weight by just taking Bo for a little stroll around or block! Why have I been in such a work out funk you ask? Okay, maybe you aren't really asking yourself that, hell, maybe you don't even care but I think I know the answer and I think I can sum it up in four simple words....

I'M HAVING FUN AGAIN!

You see last summer, and this winter I was still trying to find my self and my "new normal" I wasn't working, all I was doing was blogging and going to the gym. The gym and my blog and going back and forth to Ohio to see my friends was my life. Boy have things changed!! I'm not complaining, wait maybe I am, but only about not working out, NOT about having fun once again. But the FUN is getting in the way of my gym time. You see I only like to work out in the morning. I really don't like getting to the gym later that eleven in the morning because then the gym is just full of people working out on their lunch break. I don't like to go in the afternoon either. I don't have a good reason why, I just don't. So I usually try to be to the gym no later than ten. I really prefer to be there between eight or nine in the morning. However fun late summer nights are getting in my way. When the alarm goes off at seven, I have just been hitting the snooze over and over again and well if it's after 9:30 I just talk myself into not going to the gym. The kicker is I never sleep past nine! So I have no excuses. Basically, I'm just being LAZY and it needs to stop and stop now!

So I've got a new plan. Summer will be coming to an end very very soon. (Ugh that makes me sad) The fun summer nights of sitting at the ball park or out on decks with Ry and friends it will soon be too cold for that and I imagine our nights will end a little bit earlier. Well, for the most part anyways. Within the next few weeks I'm going to be most likely be starting a new job (more on that in another post), so I will have to be hitting the hay earlier anyways. So, I think I'm going to start getting my body ready for that adjustment and also start getting up at the same time every morning. Well, not on the weekends, why get up when you can sleep in, clearly I'm not that crazy!

I also am going to start going to the gym a minimum of three days a week. My life is different now than it was six months ago. I can't and don't have time to go to the gym for two hours five days a week anymore. BUT...I can still go for an hour or so three days a week and get all the workouts in that I need to get it. Plus we have a bike at home, so I'm going to start riding that at night and in the morning. Today at Target I also got this new workout DVD......

It's Jillian Micahels Yoga Meltdown. There are two different yoga workouts, a beginning workout that is 30 minutes long and and advanced yoga workout that is 30 minutes as well. I've never done yoga before, I've always been more of a Pilate's girl myself, but figured I would give it a shot. PLUS....on the cover it says you can lose up to 5 pounds a week. There is now way that is a lie! I figure with five pounds lost in a week in a month I will have lost 20 lbs and that is exactly how much weight I want to lose. So I'm going to give it a shot. Starting on Wednesday I will be doing this video everyday and see what happens. I'm also going to start my new gym schedule this week and see what happens. I also have Jillian's (I say her name like I know her or something) 30 Day Shred, so on days I can't make it to the gym I will do that DVD too. I did it before and it killed me, hopefully with working out more now it won't be so bad. Who knows...I will let you know how it goes.

Oh, I also have two weddings that I'm in this year. (No, not mine...don't go getting all excited on me! :) Jennie's in just 32 days and I have a strapless dress....GULP and then my brother's in April. Funny enough I got the same dress, just in a different color for their wedding. So on top of not letting myself down I have extra intensive to look a little better and take better care of myself.

So here it goes to me not being a slacker anymore!! Oh, and hopefully with in the next little while other things will be cleared up and I will be back to blogging on a more regular basis.

So while I know your health and fitness is important I'm kind of glad to hear that you've been a slacker! I'm so glad you are having fun and enjoying life and your 'new normal'... here's to hitting the gymn! ;)

I only have 3 words for you: 30 Day Shred. It's only 30 mins, and it will TOTALLY change your body. I don't have time to go to the gym for an hour every day, but I can get up 30 mins earlier to have Jillian kick my butt. Give it a try...
